Where does Saint-Emilion come from?
Emilian has to flee his native Brittany. He steals bread from the local lord to give it to the poor. When he is arrested, it is wood that falls from his coat and not bread. This was his first miracle. He takes refuge in Saujon, near Royan. He performs another miracle which forces him to flee once again. He settles in a cave in the forest of Cumbis, overlooking the Dordogne. Monks attracted by his wisdom settle around his hermitage.
This is the beginning of the village of Saint Emilion.
The vineyard created by the Romans is then reborn.
